Meet our 2020/2021 Interns
Hello! My name is Angie Tedder. I graduated from Appalachian State University with my Bachelors of Social Work in May 2020. I started my Masters of Social Work at North Carolina State University in May 2020 and will be interning with Family First Choice, Inc as part of my curriculum. My favorite therapy methods are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy.
Greetings! My name is Tireka Brooks, a native from Hillsborough, North Carolina. I will be receiving my Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling-Rehabilitation from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University in Fall 2020. Also, I received my PB Certificate in Rehabilitation Counseling and Behavioral Addictions in Fall 2019. I completed my BS in Rehabilitation Studies from Winston-Salem State University in December 2015. Currently, I have had one year of direct experience, serving as an intern at Family First Choice, Inc. in Raleigh, NC. After completion of my degree, I will be pursuing my LPC, LCAS, and NCC licensure in the state of NC. I provide Multi-Cultural Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Serving a diverse population from ages 6 to 50+, I will work with individuals based on what is brought to the session without predetermined ideas of how it will be. I will help my clients understand the thoughts and feelings that may contribute towards a certain behavior. From this foundation we will explore, surface, and work through the barriers impeding individuals from a better life that they are capable of having. Therefore, goals will be set and we will collaborate on means to achieve these goals. Techniques I implement (but not limited to) include: play therapy, cognitive-restructuring, role-playing, relaxation exercises, reflection, and etc.
